Let me share this from a fellow blogger’s site (http://majorityoftwo.blogspot.com)

On March 23, 2009 more than 200 dancers performed a promotional stunt for a reality television program in Belgium. The purpose of the reality show is a search for someone to play Maria in the lead role of “The Sound of Music”. The young dancers had only two rehearsals for this act, and the early morning rush hour crowds in the Central Station of Antwerp were not prepared for what they saw. After a few minutes, many of the spectators joined in.

I’ve watched it twice four times, reduced each time to big fat tears rolling down my cheeks while I grin… Oh boy, I wish I’d been there, because for sure I’d have been up and dancing…Do please watch.

I want to do this in some public space.

Meanwhile women and I hope men too, are knitting pink and some green squares for a huge Mother’s Day celebration in Washington, D.C. Here’s a blurb from the Code Pink website-

This year’s theme: “We will not raise our children to kill another mother’s child.”

“Arise then…women of this day! Arise, all women who have hearts! From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with Our own. It says: Disarm! Disarm!”— Julia Ward Howe, Mother’s Day Proclamation, 1870

“And so sometimes I think that if you just put the mothers in charge for a while, that things would get resolved” – Barack Obama

This Mother’s Day, we are delighted to announce our second 24-hour vigil in front of the White House, where we will honor all mothers and women who live where war is happening— where women are paying the price with their bodies, loved ones, homes, future. We want to recognize the price they pay and honor their courage and power, and stand with them in solidarity to not only tell their important stories but to model what women-centered community looks and acts like.
